Pressed crust, pear tart recipe to enjoy this Thanksgiving.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, you may be starting to think of your holiday menu. While you want all of your food to taste delicious, it does not mean you should have to spend all day in the kitchen. Keep this Thanksgiving recipe that you can make ahead of time in mind so that you can enjoy your time with your loved ones.

Pressed Crust Pear Tart

You will need:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, plus more for the pan at room temperature
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for your fingers
  • ½ cup plus 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 Bosc pears, peeled, halved, and cored
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup apricot jam
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Then you will need to:

  1. Heat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Butter a 14-inch rectangular tart pan and set aside.
  3. Mix together the baking powder and flour in a medium bowl and set aside.
  4. Cream the butter and ½ cup sugar with an electric mixer at high speed in a large bowl. Lower the speed to medium, add the egg, and beat until completely mixed. Gradually add the baking powder mixture until fully incorporated. The dough will be very soft.
  5. Push the dough into the pan with floured fingers to form an even crust. Arrange the pear halves top to bottom, cut side down. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and the rest of the sugar. Bake until the crust is golden brown, about 45 minutes, and then let cool.
  6. Heat the lemon juice and apricot jam in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until combined. The tart can be kept loosely covered with foil for 1 day, or served immediately!
